Is it safe?
Acupuncture has a very safe track record.  All needles used are sterile, single-use and disposable. Anne is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and abides by their strict codes of safe practice. Acupuncture can also be safely used alongside western medicine.

Does it hurt?
The needles are very fine  - much finer than the needles used for injections.  When the needle is inserted there is a slight sensation sometimes described as tingling, a dull ache or heaviness.  This sensation lasts for a few seconds only.

How many treatments will I need?
Because each person is unique, the length of treatment varies.  As a general rule, some improvement to the main complaint is usually felt after four to six treatments which are normally weekly. Sometimes treatment is dramatic and only one or two treatments are necessary.  For most conditions it is advised to commit to six treatments at weekly intervals for best results.  As your health improves treatments are spaced out to fortnightly, then monthly or seasonal for maintenance.

How long will the treatment last?
The first session lasts around an hour and a half to two hours as this includes taking a detailed case history as well as the first acupuncture treatment.  Subsequent treatments last 45 minutes to one hour.
